HOW TO CATCH THE BIG GATS
BY: VIRGIL AGEE
BIG CATS - You have to be there
when a big cat wants to eat.
ATTITUDE - You must have
confidence in your location, presentation, and ability to land a big
fish.
TACKLE & EQUIPMENT - Use simple
and reliable tackle appropriate for conditions.
RIGS - Use the simplest, most
natural rig that will deliver and hold your bait where a big cat can
find it.
BAITS - Use fresh natural baits
for big blues.
FISHING CONDITIONS - Fish
whenever you can, but especially when conditions such as water level
and moon phase are favorable.
LOCATION - Use sonar to locate
the best holes, then focus your efforts on the best feeding station
within that hole.
THE VALUE OF PATIENCE - To be
successful, you have to stick it out.
TIME OF DAY - Giant Blue Cats
just as likely feed during the day as at night, particularly in cold
or deep water.
LANDING BIG BLUES - Think about
how you'll hook, fight, and land the fish of a lifetime before he
hits.
FIGHTING UP NOT OUT - When you
can fight a fish up you won't be dragging him through heavy cover.
RELEASING GIANT CATS - Keep
reasonable numbers of smaller fish for the table, but release the
giants
